LEGENDARY VACATION CLUB: WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW BEFORE BUYING

Legendary Vacation Club (LVC) has positioned itself as a premium travel membership program, offering access to some of the most recognizable luxury resort brands in Mexico and the Caribbean. With partnerships that include Hard Rock Hotels, Nobu Hotels, AVA Resort, Doma, Eden Roc, and its own proprietary Único Collection, the club promises members exclusive experiences across multiple destinations.
However, behind the polished sales presentations and luxury branding lies a growing number of dissatisfied members who describe an experience very different from what they were originally promised.

Common Complaints: What Members Are Saying

Misrepresentation of Value: Perhaps the most common complaint involves the gap between the promises made during sales presentations and the actual value of the membership.

One reviewer explained they were told they could reserve luxury suites through Interval for approximately $350 USD per week. Once they attempted to book, however, they discovered the prices were no lower than booking directly through the resort or online travel websites.

Another member who compared the Legendary membership with independently booking Hard Rock vacations estimated that the membership ultimately cost nearly four times as much.

Cancellation Difficulties: Many owners also report that canceling their membership is far more difficult than sales representatives suggested.

Members claim they were verbally assured they could cancel whenever they wished, only to later discover penalties such as:

  • Rescission or cancellation fees
  • Loss of previously paid membership fees
  • Additional payments required to receive vacation certificates instead of refunds

Availability Restrictions: Several owners report planning vacations months in advance only to discover that preferred dates or destinations were unavailable.

Some say they were encouraged to purchase upgrades before being offered the reservations they originally requested.

Hidden Fees and Unexpected Charges: Another recurring complaint involves unexpected costs.
Several members report being charged lodging or resort fees for vacations they were originally told would be "free," significantly increasing the total cost of their trips.

Customer Service Concerns: Owners have also expressed frustration regarding customer support, frequently mentioning:

  • Difficulty reaching representatives
  • Calls that are never returned
  • Slow responses to emails
  • Little follow-up once the membership has been purchased

The Reality of Timeshare Ownership

Timeshares are the advance purchase of future vacations at a resort or vacation club. While they can provide access to recurring vacations, they should not be confused with traditional investments.

In fact, timeshares are properties, not financial investments. Their resale value is often far lower than buyers expect, and ownership comes with ongoing contractual obligations.
Before signing any agreement, prospective buyers should remember:

In Mexico, buyers have five business days after signing to legally rescind a timeshare contract. Unfortunately, many owners report never being informed of this right during the sales presentation, only discovering it after the rescission period had already expired.

What Members Wish They Had Known

Based on the experiences shared by current and former Legendary Vacation Club members, prospective buyers should carefully consider the following:

  • Verbal promises are not guarantees. If a benefit is not included in the written contract, it may not exist.
  • The five-day cancellation period is critical. Mexican law grants buyers five business days to cancel after signing.
  • "Free" vacations may still involve additional fees. Resort charges and lodging fees have surprised many members.
  • Availability is not guaranteed. Popular destinations and travel dates may be far more limited than sales presentations suggest.
  • Booking independently may sometimes cost less. Several members report finding lower prices through standard travel websites than through their membership.

Legal Considerations and Consumer Rights

Timeshare contracts are legally binding documents, and although consumers have legal protections, getting out of a timeshare is rarely simple.
Depending on the circumstances, owners may consider several alternatives:

  • Selling the membership
  • Transferring ownership
  • Donating it
  • Renting unused weeks
  • Pursuing legal cancellation

However, not every option completely ends the contractual obligations, and no single solution works for every owner.

As mentioned earlier, getting out of a timeshare is not easy. Those who are outside the legal rescission period often benefit from seeking professional guidance before pursuing cancellation.
Taking the time to understand how timeshares work, their contractual obligations, and the available cancellation options can help buyers make a more informed decision before committing to long-term ownership.

I have a Legendary Membership, but I no longer find it useful and would like to cancel it. Can anyone guide me on how to cancel Legendary Membership? What is the process, and are there any penalties or specific steps I need to follow?

I recently had a terrible experience with the Legendary Vacation Club. It's nothing but a scam. They promise luxurious vacations and exclusive deals, but all I got was misleading information and hidden fees. I ended up wasting a lot of money for subpar accommodations. Save yourself the headache and avoid the Legendary Vacation Club scam at all costs!

I just returned from a 10 day vacation in Cabo San Lucas. I was swindled by Pueblo Bonito resorts in buying a time share on 12/6/22 and sent a registered letter requesting cancellation on 12/16/22. Please advise as to the costs for your company to assist in receiving a full refund and full cancellation of the timeshare contract.
