Pueblo Bonito Fractional Ownership: Resorts, Locations, and Common Complaints

In this section, you will find valuable information about Pueblo Bonito’s fractional ownership business. If you are thinking about buying a timeshare at Pueblo Bonito resorts, or if you have already closed a deal, there is content on important review sites where people share their opinions about their timeshare-buying experiences at various resorts, including Pueblo Bonito membership reviews on those same sites.

Pueblo Bonito Resort Portfolio
Pueblo Bonito is a Mexican hospitality group founded in 1994, with its first resort opening in 1987. Its holding company, Blazki, operates brands such as Pueblo Bonito, Emerald Bay, Sunset Beach, Montecristo, Novaispania, Copala, and Coronado.

Today, Pueblo Bonito operates nine luxury resorts in Los Cabos and Mazatlán, plus two Pueblo Bonito Vantage properties in San Miguel de Allende and Mazatlán’s Centro Histórico.

Los Cabos: Pueblo Bonito Pacifica Golf & Spa Resort, The Towers at Pacifica, Pueblo Bonito Sunset Beach Golf & Spa Resort, Montecristo Estates Luxury Villas, Pueblo Bonito Rosé Resort & Spa, and Pueblo Bonito Los Cabos Beach Resort.

Mazatlán: Pueblo Bonito Emerald Bay Resort & Spa, Pueblo Bonito Emerald Estates Luxury Villas, and Pueblo Bonito Mazatlán Beach Resort.

Pueblo Bonito Vantage: Pueblo Bonito Vantage San Miguel de Allende, a 111-room property in the Distrito Corazón area, and Pueblo Bonito Vantage Centro Histórico Mazatlán, a 24-room retreat inside a restored 19th-century building.

Quivira Los Cabos and Copala
Quivira Los Cabos is an 1,850-acre master-planned residential and resort community in Cabo San Lucas, developed by Pueblo Bonito founder Ernesto Coppel. It contains several residential communities, including Montecristo Estates, Copala Residences, Coronado Residences, Alvar, and Old Lighthouse Club, as well as the Jack Nicklaus-designed Quivira Golf Club.

Copala is a gated, full-ownership community within Quivira. It features colonial hacienda-style condominiums and townhomes, along with access to the Copala Club House and other Quivira amenities. Copala owners also receive discounts at Pueblo Bonito resorts, including reduced rates on dining, spa treatments, and golf.

This distinction matters because Pueblo Bonito operates both full-ownership real estate and fractional/timeshare products. Buyers should understand which type of ownership they are being offered.

Fractional Ownership and Timeshare Details
Montecristo Estates, Emerald Estates, and Novaispania Residences offer fractional ownership options. Novaispania Residences is described as the most luxurious fractional opportunity, featuring a 10-acre residential community with 28 home sites and 1,200 Pueblo Bonito Universal Points each year.

Access to other Pueblo Bonito resorts depends on your ownership level, so owners should refer to their ownership information to confirm eligibility.

Common Complaints and Reviews
Despite the company’s prestigious portfolio, when it comes to Pueblo Bonito fractional ownership (Pueblo Bonito Travel Club), selling it is not as good as the company claims its treatment of guests is, as seen in recent Pueblo Bonito timeshare reviews and common complaints.

Common complaints include:

  • A salesperson has the client sign a waiver giving up their five-day right to cancel, claiming it is a special one-day-only offer. This is illegal in Mexico.
  • A salesperson promises to sell the client’s old timeshare to offset the cost of the new timeshare. In the end, the client is referred to a resale company that does not sell the old timeshare, and the client is stuck with two timeshares and the maintenance fees for both properties.
  • Complaints about Concord Pueblo Bonito and Pueblo Bonito Travel Club.

Reviews also mention Pueblo Bonito Emerald Bay, Pueblo Bonito Pacifica, and Pueblo Bonito Sunset Beach, including problems with membership updates that clients say do not benefit them.

Online Pueblo Bonito Travel Club reviews and the complaints above show that the scam problem is growing. Much of this happens in Mexico, where salespeople exploit foreigners’ and tourists’ limited knowledge of local law while they are on vacation. Similar issues are reported at Pueblo Bonito Sunset Beach, including poor management and unpleasant staff after guests reject timeshare invitations.

If you are considering fractional ownership, work with legitimate companies and stay alert. Check the seller’s background online, and be suspicious of anyone asking for an upfront fee; trustworthy deals are handled like real estate transactions.

We went to Pueblo Bonito and got persuaded into buying. We were promised a 2 week bonus but as soon as we arrived to Pueblo Bonito I realized there is no such thing. They just lied and misrepresented what we were actually getting and this is so unethical in my opinion for a well known resort.

I made a huge mistake purchasing a timeshare from Pueblo Bonito Sunset Beach and now I can’t get rid of it. I just realized those people put a fake address on the contract and now I can’t send a cancelation letter to them and now I am receiving calls from people saying they’re mexican attorneys and they have my information, saying I have to set overdue timeshare payments.

My father owns two timeshares in the Pueblo Bonito resorts and he was trying to book reservations, we were always being told there was no availability for the dates we asked, so my father stopped paying the maintenance fees since we could never get availability for seven years!!! The resort is now charging him with maintenance and they want to send him to collections, by the way they are terrible to deal with on the phone.

I bought a timeshare in this resort many months ago and haven´t been able to use it as they promised, I complained with the resort and they told me that if I wasn´t satisfied I needed to upgrade my membership for a better treatment. That was another scam, the treatment I'm receiving is the same as before the difference is that I'm paying more money for nothing. It is an AWFUL TREATMENT , I want to cancel it, how can I do it?

Some months ago a mexican resort I stayed in sent me an email telling me that acquiring a timeshare would give me some financial relief in this COVID-19 crisis, but that was nothing more than a scam, they promised me that i was going to be able to rent my 'vacation ownership', but when I tried to do so I couldn't because 'that room wasn't my property', what an INCONGRUENCE. Please, get informed before buying such a thing and don’t believe anything resorts says about vacation ownership.

Pueblo Bonito Emerald Bay Resort & Spa time share is a scam! We paid $14,000 up front to be a "Member", and once we were ready to make a reservation, the price was $748 HIGHER than a non-member! Just call their reservation number and get both prices (Member vs. Non-member) and you will find out you have been had! sucks, they shot themselves in the foot, we are never going back there.

I believe I purchased the Pueblo Bonito timeshare in (Mexico) in March of 2003. I had gone there with friends, one of whom had a timeshare there already. I was talked into viewing a timeshare presentation. It was your typical hard sell. They basically said that if I took a vacation every year then the timeshare was simply prepaying for the vacation. I initially said I wasn’t interested but found myself talked into putting 9000.00 down on a credit card. They indicated at the time that I would have no difficulty with booking the time I wanted and reinforced the RCI connection for other sites.

I went once to the timeshare in Mexico and then used it once at another property. After that it was almost impossible to book times at the timeshare as it was always booked, particularly during winter months.

Three years ago I contacted Pueblo Bonito as I wanted to sell the timeshare and they said that they had nothing to do with resales and that I could contact a company called Elite Retreat and they would handle the sale. I had to pay them 600.00 before they did anything. I dealt with Jake McDougal who kept reassuring me that he had people interested but nothing ever happened. I kept reducing the price to almost nothing and he indicated that it was difficult to sell now because they had eliminated the maintenance fee and apparently crime in Los Cabos was an issue for rentals. He stated in an email that the State dept had issued an advisory telling Americans not to travel there. After that I wanted to just get rid of it and talked to Jake about returning the property and they sent me a form stating that I would need to pay Pueblo Bonito a 1000.00 transfer fee and another 275.00 administrative fee to Elite Retreat.
