How do you really sell a timeshare without been scammed?

In December 2010 we bought a timeshare at Mayan Palace Regency for $9,833 total. We have recently received a purchase proposal for our timeshare for $30,850 from Aspen Management and Mergers. We signed this letter of interest and faxed it to them. I am worried that this is a scam.
