Punta Pacifico o Encanto Bahía is a small, relatively new resort in Mazatlan, Mexico. It is only partially built, and they are selling units on a pre-construction basis. The clients often complain about their lack of compliance with the 5 day cancellation policy and their lack of availability to book when they want to use it. They also use rental and resale scams to increase their sales.

Common Complaints:

  • Salesperson claims that they prefer if the client does not use the timeshare week. Punta Pacifico o Encanto Bahía offers to pay the client a high rental price per week for the next five years to not stay at that particular resort because they wanted to keep as many units available as possible to have enough rooms available for other prospective buyers who might come to view the property.
  • Punta Pacifico o Encanto Bahía uses resale agents that guarantee the sale of an old timeshare within a 90-120 day period. They promise high resale prices, so that they can induce buyers into purchasing larger amounts for their Punta Pacifico/ENcanto Bahía timeshare package.
  • Have clients sign a Cardholders Acknowledgement that states "I realize and understand that the earnest money deposit I have credited towards my purchase contract is non-cancellable and non-refundable, as my purchase agreement has no provisions for a rescission period." This statement is in opposition to the 5 day rescission period allowed by Mexican Law.

I purchased a RCI points timeshare through La Jolla Boutique Resort Mazatlan. They are no longer affiliated with RCI. We have been unable to book a vacation there, nor can we use any points. I can't even find contact information to email the resort.

I purchased 24000 points at La Jolla in Januaryof 2011. They promised to buy my mayan palace timeshare within 120 days. It has been 9 months and I have not recieved anything from them. Also I have tried to schedule a week there but have had no sucuss in doing so.

So i just got pushed into purchasing more points at La Jolla. Based on the fact they were going to purchase my old time share. It seems they have offered this before and failed to come through. Is this typical, what should i do?

Is it true. Is the sales and contract at the Boutique La Jolla a scam. Did they just scam me by getting me to purchase more points because they agreed to purchase my time share week at the INN @ Mazatlan.

They are total crooks that say we cant use what we paid for unless we pay more on and on promises, we know many others that are going to join us to teach them a lesson and keep others from getting scammed. It is a shame that Mazatlan and this industry is being degraded by this type crooks---thinking they are untouchable because they are in Mexico. We are retired and will dedicate time and $ to get these crooks shut down!

My husband and I visited La Jolla in Mazatlan and we were told if we buy at this location they would buy two of our other time share properties which they would use for marketing purposes. We were told that we would receive the money which would be deposited into our checking account in no more than 45 days. They told us that the paperwork would state no more than 180 days. The 180 days have passed and we have not received a penny and are getting the run around from La Jolla. We were simply assured that La Jolla would use them for marketing purposes and would make hundreds of thousands off of our properties. We are making 3 big credit card payments every month while waiting for the money that will never come. At the very least, I believe La Jolla needs to reimburse us for the full price of the timeshare we purchased from them, only after they made false promises to us. They should not be allowed to continue doing business, they are flat out stealing money from your tourists.
