How they operate
Normally, a Mayan Palace timeshare scam occur in the following way: Many people claim a sales person offers to have a long chat especially with American couples about how wonderful is to share a private place to stay every time you come to Mexico and give you a tour on the units that are supposed to be available for timeshare. Turns out people obtain a really different unit.

The sales person will never inform you of the 5 day period you have to cancel the purchase contract. Not to mention, they lie that the contract cannot be voided after it is signed. Which is a major typical indicator of the Mayan timeshare scam.

They also tend to persuade the client to level up in the resort membership, in case the client is not enrolled in one, the sales person will push them to become members at least.

They will ask if they own another timeshare that they no longer use and will tell them that Mayan Palace will sell it to lower the price of the current timeshare that the client is buying, but in reality they let people end up with the debt of both timeshares.

If you’ve been a victim of such a thing as a mayan palace timeshare scam, you can agree with most people that complained about the pressure they put you under.

Re-selling of timeshare scam
Even in the re-selling of properties, the mayan timeshare scams continue to be a great topic on review blogs.

mayan timeshare scams

The reselling fraud happens when a scammer contacts you by phone (most of the time) to claim they have someone interested in buying your timeshare at that moment. So they ask you to transfer money to cover sale expenses such as fees for the resale company or maintenance fees.

Only for you to end up stuck with the timeshare and scammed with thousands of dollars on the “fees” you paid for

Besides checking on the Mayan palace timeshare reviews, we advise owners to be wary of the following situations which may lead to fraud.

· Service offers made by a reseller, if it promises a significant return on the sale especially.
· A resale company that says the area of your property is in high demand and has an incredible number of potential buyers looking for timeshare units.
· A reseller who promises to modify or cancel the owner's contractual obligation to the complex in which the timeshare property is located.

The following tips will help you protect your investment if planning on buying a Mayan Palace timeshare:
Look up the reseller’s name on the web and check his background. Click on official sources for complaints about the person. Also Mayan palace timeshare reviews can help you on this one.

Ask about the promotion and strategies of advertising the reseller will do on the unit. Make sure you will be involved in the process and receiving reports. If they are simply publishing the unit on a resale list, it might not be worth it doing business with him.

One sign of a serious deal is a reseller who charges fees after the timeshare sale. If they ask you to pay an upfront fee, make sure you’ll getting a refund for it in the future. Always ask for the fees beforehand.

Get everything in writing. Read the contract carefully to ensure that it matches the verbal promises you have received. It should include the services that the reseller will run, as well as the fees they will have to pay and when. If the deal is not what you expected or wanted, do not sign the contract.

Always take your time to read the full documents before signing a contract and don’t let the sellers or resellers, put you under pressure, which is typical of the mayan timeshare scams as you can learn in the reviews.

Our goal is to be ambassadors and to inform as many people as possible, via every mode of communication, to not go to a sales presentation at any of the Mayan resorts and be aware of the deceitful, high pressure tactics they will be exposed to if they do.

We purchased a timeshare and after coming home, we really felt very used and scammed. And, after reading reviews on the Internet about this company we tried to contact them. We did not like what we read. After many e-mails the folks who made up the contract have not contacted us. We can only assume they wash their hands of us and there is no hope of discussing selling the contract back to them.

  • Bobby WrightMarzo 16, 2015, 12:32 pm

We too were fraudulently scammed. We were told that the 5 day contract cancellation period did not apply because we were purchasing a second hand unit. We made such a mistake believing Mayan Resorts that the timeshare would pay for itself either by donating the weeks as tax write-offs or by renting the weeks out.

PLEASE READ - DO NOT BUY FROM THIS COMPANY - TOTAL SCAM - SPECIFICS BELOW

I have had the exact same experience.

My sales person's name was Jamie Benner, a very sweet woman around age 30. A very well dressed American woman who claims she would never lie to make money. She even told us about her family and her move to Mexico for this job.

We agreed to this time share presentation in hopes for a great opportunity because we really loved the property and wanted to return yearly with our family of 5, possibly to include our every other yearly trip with 22 family members.

As an educated consumer I had many questions. I asked multiple very direct questions about properties, prices and accessibility. When pressed, Jamie told me, " the web site is down, but TRUST ME, you will be very happy with the choices of locations". In hind site, I should have walked when Jamie Benner said TRUST ME.

I was told all of the information, packet etc. would be sent to my home within 7-10 business days. I waited but information was not delivered. I called the number on the contract (011 52 800 925 0360) over 30 times and every time there was a busy signal with a message stating, "all circuits are busy, please try your call again later. announcement 8 switch 26 dash 2". I have no idea what that means but obviously, the number is useless. I called another number 1-855-437-0593 which was also on the contract. Luckily I got an answer here and was told some one would return my call in 5-20 minutes to set up my account. At that point, I was also told that the paper work takes at least 45 days to process and be sent to my home. After waiting 45 minutes for my return call, I called back and my account was set up for me, I was given my account log in and password. I was excited to book my first trip with VIDA VACATION RESORTS/VACATION PRIVILEGES.

When I logged in and saw prices and locations, I realized that this entire company is a SCAM.

    Here is what I found:
Privilege Weeks which are supposed to be $299.00 each, are non-existent. Any decent condo started around $1500.00 and went up from there.
Instant Weeks which were supposed to be $99.00 for a studio, $199.00 for a one bedroom and $399.99 for a two bedroom was also inaccurate. There are some at prices promised, but I was told specifically that ALL studios are $99, ALL one bedrooms are $299 and ALL 2 bedrooms are $399. That is a lie.

I called Jamie today and left a VM. She did not return my call. I called her again and luckily got her on the phone. She flat out lied to me on the phone, telling me that she "doesn't recall saying the prices are $299" and that I must have misunderstood. The question was asked directly and she lied.

I will do everything legally possible to get my money returned and make sure other people are not sucked into this scam.

!!!SAVE YOURSELF THE HEAD ACHE AND DO NOT BUY FROM THIS COMPANY!!!
