How they operate
Normally, a Mayan Palace timeshare scam occur in the following way: Many people claim a sales person offers to have a long chat especially with American couples about how wonderful is to share a private place to stay every time you come to Mexico and give you a tour on the units that are supposed to be available for timeshare. Turns out people obtain a really different unit.
The sales person will never inform you of the 5 day period you have to cancel the purchase contract. Not to mention, they lie that the contract cannot be voided after it is signed. Which is a major typical indicator of the Mayan timeshare scam.
They also tend to persuade the client to level up in the resort membership, in case the client is not enrolled in one, the sales person will push them to become members at least.
They will ask if they own another timeshare that they no longer use and will tell them that Mayan Palace will sell it to lower the price of the current timeshare that the client is buying, but in reality they let people end up with the debt of both timeshares.
If you’ve been a victim of such a thing as a mayan palace timeshare scam, you can agree with most people that complained about the pressure they put you under.
Re-selling of timeshare scam
Even in the re-selling of properties, the mayan timeshare scams continue to be a great topic on review blogs.
The reselling fraud happens when a scammer contacts you by phone (most of the time) to claim they have someone interested in buying your timeshare at that moment. So they ask you to transfer money to cover sale expenses such as fees for the resale company or maintenance fees.
Only for you to end up stuck with the timeshare and scammed with thousands of dollars on the “fees” you paid for
Besides checking on the Mayan palace timeshare reviews, we advise owners to be wary of the following situations which may lead to fraud.
· Service offers made by a reseller, if it promises a significant return on the sale especially.
· A resale company that says the area of your property is in high demand and has an incredible number of potential buyers looking for timeshare units.
· A reseller who promises to modify or cancel the owner's contractual obligation to the complex in which the timeshare property is located.
The following tips will help you protect your investment if planning on buying a Mayan Palace timeshare:
Look up the reseller’s name on the web and check his background. Click on official sources for complaints about the person. Also Mayan palace timeshare reviews can help you on this one.
Ask about the promotion and strategies of advertising the reseller will do on the unit. Make sure you will be involved in the process and receiving reports. If they are simply publishing the unit on a resale list, it might not be worth it doing business with him.
One sign of a serious deal is a reseller who charges fees after the timeshare sale. If they ask you to pay an upfront fee, make sure you’ll getting a refund for it in the future. Always ask for the fees beforehand.
Get everything in writing. Read the contract carefully to ensure that it matches the verbal promises you have received. It should include the services that the reseller will run, as well as the fees they will have to pay and when. If the deal is not what you expected or wanted, do not sign the contract.
Always take your time to read the full documents before signing a contract and don’t let the sellers or resellers, put you under pressure, which is typical of the mayan timeshare scams as you can learn in the reviews.

I wish we had found this website before we made a purchase -- but, once they put the hard sell on, you don't have time to think! We took what was supposed to be a quick tour of the Grand Bliss in Neuvo Vallarta. Because we had our kids with us, our salesman spent a lot of time pointing out the pools, lazy river and other nice amenities. Then we were shown a Jr. Suite -- separate bedroom, living room and kitchenette. We liked what we saw, but couldn't spend anything like the $$ they were asking. Then the second salesperson came in with a much cheaper option that was one building over at the Mayan Palace (small wave of the hand) and 1/10th of the price. We were assured that everything else was the same -- because we found it hard to believe that we could spend so much less for the same lovely accommodations and amenities. We were told it was a resell and they rarely have any but they had "grabbed" it for us -- and weren't we lucky. The salespeople then launched into detailed drawings of how our suite would be a "marketing" suite that they would buy back from us ever year and in only 2 years we would make our money back. We asked lots of questions and were given lots of assurances. What we didn't do was read the find print of ALL of the contracts. After it seemed all settled, my husband took the kids back to our hotel while I finalized. AFTER HE LEFT. I signed papers that did not in any way correspond to the previous 5 hours of sale.
It was not until 6 months later when we tried to make a reservation that we found out what we had actually bought. A hotel room at the Mayan Palace which does NOT allow access to any of the Grand Mayan amenities. Even after we looked over our contract, we couldn't figure out what had gone wrong. It was only after repeated emails with the customer support that they showed us the single line item that I signed that mentions the pools are not shared. And, our separate bedroom/living room kitchenette are being remodeled so we therefore only qualify for a hotel room until they are done -- with no end date in sight.
To be fair, the Mayan Palace customer support did trade emails with me and offer to upgrade our contract for additional $$ and they offered us a TWO DAY pass to the Grand Bliss pools (keeping in mind we purchased 2 weeks for the next 100 years). All we want is our money back at this point.
Mayan Palace used obvious bait and switch tactics on us, promised us resell ability that clearly isn't going to happen and have only offered minimal and/or unusable solutions for high $$. STAY AWAY!!

My husband and I made the mistake of purchasing a timeshare at mayan palace and were led to believe we were purchasing the grand bliss in riviera maya. We were shown the room model for the grand bliss as well but were told the resort was under construction so would be named at another resort in Nuevo Vallarta. Not knowing there difference between the bliss and grand bliss we didn't notice on the contract it was for the bliss in Nuevo Vallarta which is not even built. We only found this out after trying to book a week in the fall and told we were not eligible for grand bliss. We already paid in full but now want to know our rights to cancel. We spent an entire day of our vacation to hear nothing but lies and no one indicated we had 5 days to rescind.
We were also duped by the claims of an incredible return on our investment (far better than the stock market) and the opportunity to transfer our first timeshare to get rid of that liability. We went to the Grand Mayan in Riviera Maya, but ended up with a contract saying we own a place at The Bliss Regency in Nuevo Vallarta, which cannot be found anywhere on the internet or even on their The Bliss Resorts or Vida Vacations websites. Now we have 2 timeshares that we can't get rid of. So many misrepresentations! We want to try to cancel this contract with The Bliss before we have to throw away any more $$. If anyone would please share their first hand experience with MTS, please contact me directly [E-mail]
Those FRAUDULENT BASTARDS should burn in hell!
I must say. I will never go back to Mexico; they have timeshare salespeople in the resorts. There is no safe place.
if I wouldn’t be so broke due to the money I have gave to Mayan Palace, I would take legal action against them.
Their timeshare is so bad that they must lie in order to sell it! Although once they realized you are mad enough to take action against them due to their fraudulent and unscrupulous sales strategies, they make silly offers to calm you down. It’s stupid the way they conduct business
