We were also foolish and got hooked into the "We will have our reputable company sell your existing timeshare". Cecil Jenzen was the salesman. We have not heard from either the company that was supposed to sell the time share or Mr. Jenzen. We reaize how foolish we were to not have sold first and bought second. Will NEVER go to another time share presentation. My husband and I are both well education people, you would think we would know better.

We purchased an El Cid timeshare in 2003 and we were very mislead on how we could use it. We were told the 'points' would accumulate and we could save them up for an exchange, however, this is not true and we never have enough points to exchange. We have been unable to ever use it and the only thing we have ever done is pay monthly amounts for no vacation. We are tired of paying for nothing.

We purchased a Timeshare from El Cid. We have tried to use it to no avail. We have contacted El Cid re cancelling and they say we can cancel but they will keep our deposit. We have disputed the charges with our credit card company and so far are winning. However, this is only for the deposit. I have to dispute the balance, which is charged every single month.

I purchased a timeshare under a weeks program to start then on my first vacation was convinced to switch over to a point system and was up sold to paying a bigger payment which now has increased my maintanence fees. I can not afford this payment and extra fees.

When I went to Mexico in November I purchased a timeshare El Cid Recreaton Club. I was in a cruise and did this in a couple of hours due to time. I felt pressured and should not have signed the contract. They said I could sell if I did not like the plan. They sent me a bill and I paid half of the timeshare on the credit card  they sent me . Then they sent me a bill for $100, an assessment charge which I paid, I then received a 3rd bill for maintenance fees for 2010 . When I called and said I did not purchase until Nov and did not own the entire year  they said I had to pay it as it would be maintenance from 2010 until Oct 2011. I told them I wanted to get rid of the timeshare and they said I cannot. I told them that the salesman said I could sell and they said this is not so? This was purchased in Nov 2010 - I was told that in Mexico they did not have a rescision of contract; however on the internet there have been other complaints about El Cid indicating that there is indeed 5 days to rescind a contract and I was never told about this.

My wife and I  purchased a timeshare at El Cid while on vacation . Now that I am trying to book a holiday I am discovering all the lies we were told. First off, they promised us that they were able to get us huge discounts on airfare. They showed us a page of airfare prices way lower then standard prices. Now, they are telling me that they do nothing with airfare, I have to find my own. At the meeting I stated that often airfare is more expensive then a package deal and was told, Not with the discounts we can get you. Next, they told us that some resorts were all inclusive, and there were no addition fees for them, just redeeming your points. Now, I need to pay $75 per person per day in AI fees. This works out to more then I can book the exact same room for on my own. They also stated that there were no annual fees, yet now I am being told that there is a usage fee that must be paid each year to use the holiday package. It seems that everything they told us was a lie.

I have owned timeshare at El Cid Resorts for many years. Some of it has been good, but recently I increased my points usage with the promise of renting several weeks a year for $6,000.00 US Dls a week. It was a lie, the company they were registering my weeks with never recieved the forms or fee to register it with them. Now if I want to register my weeks for rental the Phoneix Travel Co. wants about a $800.00 US Dls in fees paid up front. I think I would never recieve any rental income.
