Wyndham Resorts is the largest hotel company in the world, with over 7300 resorts worldwide; however, its reputation regarding timeshares is not the best.
Vacations are a good opportunity to get out of the busy daily life and spend quality time with our loved ones, however, with the struggling economy, it is becoming more difficult to find a destination that fits our budget and meets our needs.
In the effort to find economical ways to travel, fractional ownership appears to be an attractive vacation option.
Nowadays, many resorts are focused on selling timeshares, with Wyndham being one of the most prestigious. Wyndham Hotels & Resorts is a corporation that was founded in Texas in 1981.
The company grew very quickly in the late 1990s, and with approximately, 7340 hotels worldwide, Wyndham has now become the world’s largest hotel company.
Wyndham Timeshare
With over 915,000 owner families, Wyndham vacation ownership, also known as Wyndham timeshare, is the largest vacation ownership business in the world.
The whole system counts 25,000 individual units in a network of 180 timeshare companies throughout the United States, Canada, Mexico, the Caribbean and the South Pacific. During timeshare presentations at Wyndham, vacationers are offered a Wyndham timeshare points for sale package, since the company uses a points-based system.
Exchange and Rentals
Being a global leader in vacation ownership, Wyndham Timeshare has a program called Exchange & Rentals, which has 3.7 million RCI subscribing members.
Wyndham Exchange & Rentals has the goal of delivering dream holidays to leisure travelers. The company provides access to more than 100,000 vacation units in almost 100 countries.
Wyndham Complaints
Wyndham's resorts are absolutely beautiful and modern; however, the company does not have the best reputation regarding timeshares, which is not surprising given that they have an F rating on the BBB.
Most complaints are about the deceitful business practices and insulting behavior on the part of Wyndham Timeshare salespeople. According to the BBB, they have a total of 1475 complaints.
- 1040 about the sales practices
- 128 about collection issues
- 3 about delivery issues
- 304 about problems with the product/service
Wyndham timeshare presentations are hardcore and very long-lasting, people are usually pressured and bullied into buying a timeshare.
The company has been sued in federal court several times by many Wyndham timeshare owners for committing wrongs in their vacation credits, such as breach of contract, violation of California’s Timeshare Act, and breach of fiduciary duty, among others.
Another common complaint is that maintenance and assessment fees increase constantly, to the point where many timeshare owners are no longer able to keep paying them.
Many of them decide to stop paying, which is a huge mistake, since their debt is taken to a collection agency, and it ends up affecting their credit score very badly.

Is a Wyndham Timeshare a Good Purchase?
Only if you are willing to use your timeshare properly and pay the monthly timeshare maintenance fees.
Take into consideration that a timeshare is NOT a financial inversion, you can actually save more money by planning your vacations by yourself, than by purchasing a fractional ownership.

That is the scam of century I never did fall for. I never once bought into timeshare. I heard horror stories by many whom have they would arrive only to find a family already there. Then fights broke out this is my time not your time.
I bought a time share. Boy, did I learn the hard way about that. First off, I tried to cancel the purchase within three days but no one called back until the fourth day, and they said they couldn't help. They also told me I could take my bloated 17 percent loan to the bank and get a lower rate. It was then I found out no bank will take on time-share loans! What can I do? They start taking the money out of my account in mid-September.

They are very hard sell — if you ever happen to find yourself in such a situation, an easy way out is simply to say, “I love the timeshare — I just need my lawyer to look at the contract.” If the try to persuade, all you have to ask is, “is there something in the contract that my lawyer wouldn’t approve of?” This puts them on the defensive and allows you to make an easy escape.
I contacted the Property Owner’s Assoc for the timeshare for a Wyndham Property that I have owned for more than 25 years. I said that I wanted to GIVE the timeshare back -I wasn’t asking for a buyback- I just wanted to quit claim the property and never pay the maintenance fee for a timeshare that hasn’t been used in more than 10 years. I was told that I had to transfer the the title to someone that would pay the fee. I could never get out of the maintenance even by giving it away or giving it back. If I die, my children have to pay the maintenance until title is transfered. Oh, and if I don’t pay the maintenance fee, I will be turned into collections and they will ruin me. How can I get out of this?
There is nothing wrong with the whole idea of timeshares, the seem to work well for some people, the problem begins when the sales tactics become practically aggresive and high-pressure, therefore, vacationers should be cautious about anything that sounds too good to be true.
I, too, am looking to sell our Wyndham time share points. It is not that we do not use them and enjoy the travel, but the expense is getting to us. I think we could travel and enjoy great locations without putting out the monthly maintenance fees incurred through the timeshare. We have been contacted by a company called, “Corporation Resort Specialists” out of Las Vegas. They are not a listing company, but insist they have corporate buyers looking to spend “tax deductible” money for properties to entertain clients, hold conferences and give to charity. I can’t seem to find anything about them. Can you help? Of course, they want money up front!!

I have not used my timeshare property for 3 years because when I have vacation time , none of the places I am interested to go to or see are not available. So I am just paying for the Wyndham wealthy owners to relax and enjoy their vacation while everyone of us are working and paying for it. All of us who are in this situation should write to these timeshare companies.
My family owns a time share and I don’t even understand why they keep it part of their investment, I’m totally out of it. But I notice some issues with it, like they keep complaining about the taxes and charges per year.
