What is Rescinding a Timeshare?

Rescinding a timeshare is a legal way to cancel a timeshare contract, sometimes with the possibility of getting your money back and usually within a certain number of days, depending on the place where you purchased the timeshare.

In Mexico, there is a 5-day cancellation period, and even though some timeshare salespeople might ask you to sign away your right to cancel during the sales presentation, you still have the legal right to rescind.

Unfortunately, most people regret their timeshare purchase after the rescission period has expired, and that represents the beginning of a one-on-one battle with the resort to fight for the timeshare cancellation.

Desperate to recover the money they have lost, timeshare scam victims become an easy target for other fraudulent companies that claim to be the solution to all of their problems.

I have paid a lot in time share. mine is mystic dune. i stopped paying it as when i first used it. we were not given the righr room, and the room has cockroaches.
that time on, i prefer to stop paying it. i sent an email of complaint but nobody is replying. they only get my attention when i stop paying.

is there any legal way to cancel my contract due to unavailability of funds.

This tips are helpful. I know how people really need this to avoid the timeshare scam as well as the regret that they spend money for nothing. It should be a lesson to everyone that before entering a contract you must be well knowledgeable of it.

Timeshares are generally poor investments but can be useful for vacations if you play the game properly.

It is not a good investment. You have to pay for the timeshare, an annual fee for upkeep of the timeshare, a fee to join RCI, and then a fee when you trade for another property. This all adds up to much more than booking a trip every year. You could actually stay in other people's timeshares if you want an apartment instead of a hotel room and I'm sure you'd come out cheaper. There are places that rent timeshares in most larger cities.

This is a great article and a “must read” for someone who hasn’t seen this BS first hand. I accepted an offer to sit through one of these in Cozumel once, had to get up and walk out the door I was so p*ssed with their sales tactics. The voucher (or whatever it was) I was promised wasn’t worth the 2 hours of misery. What is surprising to me is how a well respected company like the Sheraton lets this go on at their properties, regardless of where in the world it is. These major hotel chains need to put a stop to it as it only makes them look ridiculous.

Oh, and one other point of fact I’d like to make – I wouldn’t buy so much as a dust-buster without careful consideration so WHY ON EARTH would I buy your crappy time share at $3,000++ without at least napping on the idea?
