Sol Meliá is a huge hotel and resort company from Mexico that operates worldwide, with beautifully decorated rooms and nicely manicured grounds with scenic views that are breathtaking.

It sounds like a wonderful vacation, and it is until you sign on the dotted line.

Taking advantage of the beautiful places they have, Sol Meliá is one of the most fraudulent resorts in the timeshare industry.

This timeshare scam is increasing every year, and Meliá is not the only one, there are a lot of scam resorts in the timeshare matter, as mentioned before in:

The Company

Sol Meliá Timeshare has resort sales locations all over Mexico, like Cancun, Cozumel, Ixtapa, Los Cabos, CDMX, Playa del Carmen and Puerto Vallarta.

Its legal name is Operadora Mesol, S.A. de C.V. Sol Meliá & Sol Meliá VC Mexico, S.A de C.V.

The property itself is nice, and the food is pretty good. It has everything to make your vacation awesome, but the timeshare is a complete scam.

Complaints

As we have already known, timeshare scams are increasing fast, and the following, are the most common complaints:

  1. You are approached by the aggressive salesperson who offers you “free stuff” to go to a vacation club meeting while on vacation.
  2. The whole timeshare sales presentation at Sol Meliá timeshare lasts about 4 hours.
  3. When you tell the timeshare salespeople that you are not interested, they go into “hard sell” mode.
  4. At the sales pitch, they promise a lot of things that are not stipulated in the timeshare contract.
  5. They tell you, that you can exchange your timeshare weeks with RCI for free, but that costs more in booking fees.
  6. If you already own a timeshare, they promise to sell your old timeshare, but you end up owning two timeshares.
  7. They promise to rent out the timeshare weeks as a financial investment, but the reality is that timeshare rentals are a scam.
  8. The timeshare agreement does not protect the Sol Meliá timeshare owner at all.
  9. When you make a reservation, they request that you pay an extra fee per day and per person. Even if you have an all-inclusive membership, they say no.
  10. Timeshare maintenance fees are too high.

What Do I Do if I am a Sol Meliá Timeshare Scam Victim?

If you are stuck with a Sol Meliá timeshare that you no longer want, or feel you were scammed, you are looking for a way to get out of this timeshare nightmare.

There are many ways to get rid of your timeshare, but the best solution is to cancel your timeshare contract.

No compren membresías de tiempo compartido, al igual que Melia existen muchas empresas que hacen lo mismo, todas son un fraude, lo digo por experiencia propia.

Sol Melia/Melia Club got more than $41k from us for our membership we bought in 2009. We’ve never used it once because we were always behind on maintenance fees. Finally got caught up and tried to book our 1st vacation and got hit with the $200 per person per night. WHAT? We purchased an all inclusive package. We pay maintenance fees each year of almost $1000. Why would being a member be more costly, twice as much than booking online? We’ve been robbed of a ton of $ for nothing in return. Need help!!!

Hey Carlos, where are you in your fight against Melia? My wife and I are looking at options and not sure where to start. Do you just stop paying? Could that hurt you financially (having to get lawyer?) or just the credit hit? How bad would the credit hit be?

Actually we are fighting against melia, we want a refund back but it seems like is impossible to get back a penny..those people forgot everything that they told us in the timeshare presentation, the cost of the maintenance fees are insane, and we cannot use our membership because they want an upgrade, very disappointed

We cannot afford anymore the maintenance fees of sol melia, actually we have a huge problem with them, the contract never specified the increase of the maintenance fees, we are fighting against them because is a lot of money to pay, they didnt look in a helpful mood to attend our complaint.

When we bought the timeshare I never tought that a company like Melia, which I considered serious, could cheated that way.
Is not only that the timeshare is not what I expected, but once we signed the contract, Melia changed the conditions devaluing the timeshare we have paid.
If you ever go to Melia don't buy anithing!
