Complaints

As we have already known, timeshare scams are increasing fast, and the following, are the most common complaints:

  1. You are approached by the aggressive salesperson who offers you “free stuff” to go to a vacation club meeting while on vacation.
  2. The whole timeshare sales presentation at Sol Meliá timeshare lasts about 4 hours.
  3. When you tell the timeshare salespeople that you are not interested, they go into “hard sell” mode.
  4. At the sales pitch, they promise a lot of things that are not stipulated in the timeshare contract.
  5. They tell you, that you can exchange your timeshare weeks with RCI for free, but that costs more in booking fees.
  6. If you already own a timeshare, they promise to sell your old timeshare, but you end up owning two timeshares.
  7. They promise to rent out the timeshare weeks as a financial investment, but the reality is that timeshare rentals are a scam.
  8. The timeshare agreement does not protect the Sol Meliá timeshare owner at all.
  9. When you make a reservation, they request that you pay an extra fee per day and per person. Even if you have an all-inclusive membership, they say no.
  10. Timeshare maintenance fees are too high.

We just got sucked into Sol Melia yesterday. It looked beautiful. What is the scam? Is there a chance that we will receive the money from our other timeshare that we sold to them within 120 days? I will be happy to rescind and stop payment on my credit card. What is their scam?

I have seen presentations by many timeshare salespeople. From what I've observed, they are no better or worse than other chains.

Im totally agree with this article, this persons really need to be banned by some kind of authoriry , is annoying to see how this people scam persons without regret , the best that you can do is to avoid this timeshare, is a really nasty place to invest

I agree 100% on all that was described above. I recently went to a presentation while vacationing at the wilderness water resort in the smokies. It's a very bad idea to buy this timeshare and if they noticed that you are not being convinced they pretty much insult you and kick you out!! We were shocked! ....and the "gifts" are a scam too...you end up paying more in "processing fees" that buying on line...We will never stay in one of this hotels again.

Yes i heard about months ago from a friends of mine, they tld me that they were scammed by this people, i was really excited to buy something in this resort too, but the experience that my friends live was very awful..so i dont want to be on a risky situation , so is better to know that a timeshare is not a good option

I stopped paying several months ago because I realized this was a scam. They told us a laundry list of lies during the presentation such as the all inclusive, the places we could travel, etc. This does not affect your credit score! I would suggest you contact a lawyer to see about a refund. It's pretty sad that they mislead people and take their money.

Sol Melia is a rip-off beware we bought ours last year the salesman lie through there teeth. They won't let me out my contract but I still will not pay, i don't care. They think it will go on your credit report but they are wrong just stop paying them.
