Timeshares are growing rapidly, and many international travelers are buying timeshare properties all over Mexico.

But before you do this kind of purchase, you need to do research of the company and don’t be swayed for the beautiful words the sales rep tell.

As soon as you hear some deal too good to be true, you need to think twice. We have talked before about this in:

 Complaints

As many timeshare companies in Mexico, this is another one with many complaints about timeshares, being the next the most common:

  1. Owners are never able to use their timeshare ownership. When you call to plan a vacation, you always get the same answer: “We’re sold out and we have no space available”.

  2. Special assessment fees are too high and arrive every year, despite that there is nothing in the contract about these fees.

  3. Timeshare maintenance fees increase considerably during years.

  4. The contract with Raintree timeshare indicates that if the fees are unpaid for two years, the membership will be forfeited, but is not completely true; they will send you to a collection agency.

  5. Raintree timeshare promises to sell your previously owned timeshare to sell you a new timeshare with them.

  6. They deceive you to make you sign the timeshare contract and make false promises at the presentation.

  7. If you try to sell your timeshare on your own, they send a letter denying you the right to sell your timeshare.

  8. When you finally can make a reservation, they tell you that you need to do a timeshare upgrade your timeshare membership because you don’t have all the benefits.

  9. The customer service department at Raintree is very bad.

10. If you try to cancel your timeshare directly with them, they don’t agree and tell you that you sign a contract with them for “x” years, and then they send you a bill with an assessment fee.

Raintree is one of the most fraudulent companies in the timeshare industry, and cut string with them is very difficult. But you still have an option; you can cancel your timeshare purchase.

¿Qué puedo hacer si me mintieron cuando compré el tiempo compartido? Nos dijeron que lo pagaríamos en 5 años, pero después de éste tiempo nos dijeron que sólo habíamos pagado la mitad.

We have also felt frustrated with the Club Regina timeshare. We thought we were buying a fractional ownership and could trade it or rent it or use it. Lie, lies and more lies.

We are stuck with a TimeShare in Club Regina we don't use also. My question is how can these Time Share companies have so much power and the buyer none. Where are the rules and regulations fore these people. They can lie and sell things under false pretenses and it might take you a year or so to find out what the lies are but your already stuck in the black hole. I think we should all complain

My parents have one that they really want to get rid of....its a long story. They simply don't/have NEVER used it. Its a Club Regina global points thing, all paid up and everything, with a couple years of banked points

    Thanks for any help

I'm preparing to send a LETTER to PROFECO, and request they investigate these time share scams. I suggest everyone else do the same, and if enough people complain, they should do something.

I went to Club Regina Cancun and my boyfriend and I got completely suckered into purchasing a "time share". We were shown a one bed room in the royal club and then offered a studio in the first club, so I guess we were still reeling from the Royal club one bedroom and were not thinking about what we were actually getting. You are absolutley right they make the whole thing sound like the best deal in the world and give you no time to do the math and realize that it is not. We signed up Saturday and it is Wednesday today so we are within the five day time frame. I am just worried that I may screw up again trying to get my refund and I really want it back now. What did you include in the cancellation letter and what else did you include with the letter? Also did you try to communicate in any other way? We tried to talk to them in person while we were there and they blew us off the whole time, go figure. Please help me, it sounds like you have the backbone and brains that we really need here!

We were scammed by Raintree in late March when they used a fake marketing company to induce us into signing a contract with them. I want to give everyone the heads up that is thinking about signing with them or has signed.

I recently attended a timeshare presentation while I was on vacation in Cancun. I was told that it would only be 90 minutes, but by the time I started getting pissed and telling them I have to go...I had already been there for like three and a half hours! I told the first salesman no, he then got a manager ( who had an attitude ), then I refused to purchase through her and she got another manager. The price started at like 35,000 and by the end they dropped the price to like 8,000 dollars! It just didn't seem right at all. They also tried the guilt thing on me as well! When I finally got out of there...I then had to wait an hour in line for my free gift....which was one hundred dollars cash and my twenty dollar security deposit back! This was an absolute nightmare......I would not recommend doing any of those tours! It wasted most of my day on vacation!!!
