Timeshare is a modality that is growing rapidly in Mexico as well as in the rest of the world, promising to be the business of the future, although historically it has had a bad reputation.
This is due to the continuous fraud that are seen at the time of purchase and product use.
However, in spite of all the negative points of this modality, it is still in the market.
And a clear example takes place in Vallarta Gardens, where vacation possibilities are surrounded by multiple offers, but not all that shines is gold, its timeshare sales have become one of the main frauds against vacationers.
The sale of timeshares in Vallarta Gardens is a compulsive type of sale, where the aim is to motivate and stimulate the client to make the decision to buy a timeshare.
And in general, the sale is carried out by different people.
At first, the vacationer is taken to a table where they are attended by a person in charge of explaining the importance of having a Vallarta Gardens timeshare.
Through an informal chat, the salesperson tries to find out as much as possible about the vacation needs to potential clients.
At the same time, during this stage, the salesperson builds up trust with those who are listening to them.
The salesperson builds such a close none of trust with the potential client that they detect the client's vacation desires.
As a final touch, pressure is applied, all timeshares are presented indicating that the promotion is for today, and the client is persuaded that he will not find another opportunity to buy a timeshare at the price, and that, if they come back later, it will be sold at its usual value, which is generally presented at an exaggeratedly higher price.
This is the main reason that leads a person to acquire a Vallarta Gardens ownership, and is forced to pay amounts that exceed thousands of dollars, with a credit card, on an evening when they were supposedly only going to attend a timeshare talk.
When a potential client attends a timeshare presentation at Vallarta Gardens, the salespeople open a credit trough Barclays, a bank affiliated with the resort, and they tell the client that they do not have to pay a down payment and that they will have 6 months to pay the total amount of their membership.
It is important to note that the cost of credit is a factor that many people overlook or are totally unaware of and the salespeople take advantage of this, offering "easy" payments, trying to distract attention from the fact that the interest rate for timeshare financing through Barclays Bank is astronomically high.
Timeshare companies assure clients of many things, such that they claim that Vallarta owners can recoup some of the expenses by renting out their timeshare during the year they do not use it.
This convinces clients who are not sure about the purchase and end up signing the contract. However, what they do not mention is that they will have to pay the rental agency plus additional fees.
When clients finally get back home and the first statement arrives, they realize that the debt is not with Vallarta Gardens timeshare but with Barclays Bank, this is because Barclays paid the entire amount to the resort.
Added to this is the fact that the price the salesperson gave them as the total price of the Vallarta Gardens ownership is actually only the down payment, and they do not have 6 months to pay, instead they must pay in one installment within a month.
This of course is not what the salesman mentions, so they immediately contact the resort.
However, the resort only gives the option of paying the remainder of the membership over 3 years at a high interest rate, this paying 25% more than the total cost of the membership, or paying the membership for 25 years, thereby paying double its value.
When clients realize that they have been trapped in this scam and that the resort is not going to pay them off, they do nothing more than agree to pay.
After a short time, Vallarta owners must pay annual maintenance fees whether they use the property or not. Worse yet, these fees continually increase, sometimes far beyond what is reasonable.
It is important to know that timeshare companies are unlike what they are told by the salespeople, and many people have fallen for these timeshare tactics.
The good news is that there's a way out in case you end up buying a timeshare, cancel your timeshare contract with a legitimate company.

I recently stayed at Vallarta Gardens and was extremely disappointed. There were numerous complaints from other guests, and I quickly understood why. The rooms were not as advertised, with several maintenance issues that went unresolved. The staff was unresponsive and unhelpful, making the experience even worse. For the price we paid, we expected much more. I would advise anyone considering this place to look elsewhere and avoid the Vallarta Gardens complaint that so many others have faced.
My experience with Vallarta Gardens has been incredibly disappointing, and it's disheartening to add my voice to the chorus of Vallarta Gardens scams. The initial presentation was filled with promises of luxurious accommodations and top-notch service. However, once I signed up, everything changed.
The reality of the accommodations was far from what was shown. Trying to communicate with they to address these issues has been a frustrating exercise in futility. They seem more interested in deflecting blame than in providing any real solutions.
I strongly caution anyone considering a deal with Vallarta Gardens to proceed with extreme caution. The lack of transparency and accountability is alarming. Don't fall victim to their deceptive practices and false promises.
We bought in April 2023, they haven’t answered our questions and always have an excuse. After reading all these complaints I am not feeling good about this. Does anyone have any advice as what to do from here.
