VELAS VALLARTA Timeshare COMPLAINTS
  Legal Name:
Desarrollos Turisticos de la Costa S.A. de C.V., Promotora Turistica Las Velas S.A. de C
  Rental Companies:
Sierra Rentals and Resales
Hotel Representatives:
Cheryl Manaker, Monica Dellagrave

Common Complaints:

  • Claim to sell fractional ownerships instead of timeshares, but in reality they are not deeded properties, just contracts for timeshare weeks.
  • Salesperson claims that all travel expenses would be a tax write off against the property ownership because it is a fractional ownership.
  • Salesperson claims that Sierra will rent out their timeshare weeks for a profit. Sierra charges a listing fee, but then never rents the weeks, and they stop answering the phone.
  • Many clients have received calls from Sierra about a year after their purchase stating that they have a buyer for their Velas Vallarta property. They are told that they just need to pay for the title search and taxes into an escrow account and then they money from the buyer will be released to the seller. The seller wires the money to the escrow company, and then never hears from them again.
  • Offer an annuity program where clients are promised to get their full investment back after 25 years if they pay an extra 5-7% of the purchase price to Lloydshare, the third party company that organizes the annuity.

Unfortunately for us like many others, we were to scammed when we visited Vallarta Mexico.During a 90 min timeshare presentation we attended at the Velas Vallarta Resort. After showing no interest and declining many offers to join which took over 6 hrs.the Vacation Club purchase was then advertised as a good financial investment which sounded appealing to us.Now it is obvious that this membership was a Scam, in which a Timeshare purchase was advertised as an investment and discount travel deal. Stay away from these fraudulent presentations at Velas Vallarta It is a scam.

I was taken advantage by Velas Vallarta. We were promised all kinds of opportunity, I was going to be able to keep my Velas Vallarta timeshare with the money they provide me from the sell of my old timeshare. We paid $20,000 for a membership at Velas Vallarta and we been fighting for a year in order to recover our money.

we purchased a time share at velas vallarta in Puerto Vallarta and they were to take the other time share in USA that we had in exchange for what we understood was half of the price. After we got home and after a couple of months we found out they did not take over the other time share and we are stuck with both time shares. Paying both off and the maintance fees and taxes.

My wife and I purchased a "fractional ownership" from Grand Velas for Casa Velas in January of 2008. Long story short...we were lied to and scammed out of $15000. Do we have any recourse?
