We were lied to 2 years ago, even about what we were buying. Tried to get it cleared up when we were in Branson, they could not figure it out. We paid cash and monthly fees and now they tell us buy more points or our points are useless. We have a time share with a different company that has been a delight for years. Timeshare is a mess.
I’ve never been a proponent of purchasing a Time Share. Both my in-laws and my parents own Time Share’s, but I really think it’s a waste of money. However, I can always “borrow” their weeks and go on vacation, so I guess not all is lost.

We own two timeshares and love them. We rented, walked ourselves into the office and sat through a low key presentation. Five days later, we went back to the office an bought our first. Our experience was unique. We bought the second 12 years later at a different resort from the same group with just a little more pressure. Both are in Cancun.
But we see the time share sharks everywhere looking to give away valuable dinners or tours. Having no plans to buy another and sometimes a free afternoon, I have often suggested to my wife that we experience a presentation. She says life is too short so we have never gone. Maybe this year.
I would consider myself lucky also. I attended a presentation and after a shady sales presentation I did not trust what I was being sold. I was offered the place for 40k (184,000 points) and they later came down to 25k. I logged into my trusty smart phone and found the same thing on Ebay for $600 (this included transfer costs) and bought that instead. Everytime I use it there's a sales presentation to try and sell me an upgrade package so I can get all the "Wyndham benefits." It's simply not worth it. I would just stress people to educate themselves and don't believe the "if you don't buy at this rock bottom sales price it will never be available again" sales line. Their sales reps are scum and the company has very little moral standards. Just check out every states BBB where they are located. The have an F, and that F doesn't stand for "Fantastic."
